Ask The Maker
I launched this on Instagram on June 6th, that I will entertain some questions. I was just happy to get one. But I received a few and I will explain further here on some interesting topics to make separate blog posts. You can also send in the comment box below and I will answer the best way I know how.
So here are a few of the questions I got last week.
Q1. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?
Q2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FORM OF SELF-CARE? AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE DOING IF YOU ARE NOT WORKING ON YOUR BIZ
Q3. HOW DO YOU OVERCOME CREATIVE BLOCK?
Q4. HOW DO YOU REMAIN POSITIVE IN THIS CURRENT CLIMATE?
Q5. HOW DO YOU FIND YOUR CUSTOMERS?
These are a mixture of fun and hard ones. Here are my answers.
My Favourite Book
I don't read a lot of books, but I love this one that I kept from the nineties. My girlfriend introduced me to GRIFFIN AND SABINE by Nick Bantock. I consider it the 'picture book for adults'. It is a correspondence between two artists that don't know each other. I love three things in it: a gripping story, gorgeous illustrations and its being interactive. Interactive means when you flip the pages, you read from actual postcards and letters in envelopes. The illustrations are thought-provoking, kind of disturbing to some. But I believe it would be helpful for artists and enthusiasts to have one. It is a classic, a bestseller in the 90s. I got the first trilogy in the series. There are 7 books I believe. But the first one is always the best for me. I intend to get the other four books to add to my collection. You can check out Amazon, Book Depository or Booktopia for the series.
My Favourite Form of Self-Care
My favourite form of self-care is the instant joy of a hot drink (coffee or tea) in a lovely cup, with a bonus treat of sweets and ice cream. It's like a #BestFriendsDay moment. Who else got a sweet tooth? πββοΈ
My favorite thing to do when not working on the biz β¦
Before, I don't enjoy travelling much when my kids were small. There were a lot of logistics to consider. π Now that they're teens, I see the world differently. So if I am not working on my biz, I explore like a child, do silly things, loosen up, do the Flash Dance routine in iso. π€ΈββοΈ What's good about this time is I get to eat, create and converse better. I learned to enjoy dates with my husband, and catch ups with my girlfriends and nieces (if restrictions permit). I'd rather share the experience with someone. While in lockdown though, my quick fix is baking, cooking or ordering Filipino food.
